Margaret Fratila, MBA 1990

Born and raised in a Communist Country of Romania, under the atrocious Ceausescu Communist Regime, Margaret Fratila come in USA on November 25Th, 1981. This was not only the Thanksgiving Day in America which will make her a "Pilgrim" but it was the day when Jenna and Barbara Bush were born. Later she knew why.

Margaret left 2 minor children Antonio and Ana Maria behind in Romania as hostages, being her guarantee that she will return to her country. She decided not to go back and Margaret got granted Political Asylum in America. She had a very hard time to bring her children here. After almost 4 yrs of hardship dealing with the Romanian Communist Government, finally with the help of Senator John Tower, Congressman Solomon Ortiz, and President George H.W. Bush, 41, and Mrs. Barbara Bush, her children joined her. She is grateful to them for their tremendous help.

On Nov. 1982, Margaret asked her friends in NYC to pay the Greyhound for her to go to Texas to explore the reality of the Western Movies seen in Romania. She never believed that Texas is so BIG and people are wearing for real Cowboy Boots and Cowboy hats.

It was a night of February 13Th, 1982 when she arrived in Houston after 3 days of traveling from NYC.Didn't know a soul and had no money to go anywhere. She prayed to God for a shelter. Than, she looked in a Greyhound parking lot and saw a Greyhound Bus with the destination Corpus Christi. She couldn't believe could be such a blessed city name as Body of Christ on her Latin Romanian language translation. She hopped in the bus, praying that the ticket will cover the cost to her new chosen destination, Corpus Christi. Sure enough it did.

She came in Corpus Christi in a Greyhound from NYC after stranded in Houston with no place to go. When she cross the Harbor Bridge she realized that this City can be a resort for the millionaires, as in Europe the cities that has water are associated with wealth and are not affordable for many. But she realized also that the prayers to God of her entire life were to live in the city by the water. God fulfilled her dream by bringing her here .He even made the way that she had no money to go back anywhere. This was a DESTINATION just like everyone should realize God's plans for their life while they reach this blessed city of Corpus Christi.

She arrived in downtown Corpus Christi, on February 14Th, 1982. It was Valentine's Day in America, an unknown Holiday for her. Later she opened a Flower Shop, and today, 25 yrs later she still own and operate Margaret's Greenhouse and European Floral Designs.

After working at Johnson's Greenhouses in Flour Bluff for 3 yrs she also worked another 2 jobs: one at Turner's Garden land at another at CC Country Club as a Hostess and Wine Steward (Madame DE Sommelier). Margaret has a Master of Science in Horticulture and Agriculture Science from The Agronomic Institute, "Nicolae Balcescu,” Horticulture University in Bucharest, Romania as well as being Alumni from C.C State University, Business School. She also has a Master of Art degree in Business, Management, and Human Resources Development from Webster University, St. Louis, MO.

Her children came in US from Romania at 6 and 8 yrs of age. They grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated with honor from Carroll and Ray High Schools.

Ana Maria graduated from U.T Austin, Business School in 2002, with Master in Professional Accounting and Minor in Spanish. She has her CPA Certification from NYC. Actually she is a Vice president at Hedge Fund Firm in NYC and working on her CFA Certification.

Antonio has his undergraduate study with Honors in Microbiology from U.T. Austin and he is now a MD, just graduated in 2007 with Honors from UT Houston, Texas Medical Center specialized and practicing Anesthesiology.

The hard work she did as an Immigrant it was an example for many people not only here in the community but all over the country. She is the proud recipient of The Medal of Freedom from the Republican Senatorial Committee. She is a member of Republican Senatorial Inner Circle in Washington DC and she believes in a principle to keep this country free.

Margaret is going many times to Washington DC for many different functions and events. She participated to both Inauguration of President George Bush in Washington DC.

Actually she is working on finishing her book 'Flight to Freedom,” a story of struggle and success of an immigrant woman who suffered tremendously for this freedom here. She is planning to be following by a Motion picture filmed in Romania, Europe, and Corpus Christi.

Margaret is a successful, hard working business woman who never says No to volunteer for many non profit organizations, including Orphans Children of Romania. She enjoys always helping a hand to others. Flowers and plants are her "other children "she loves tremendously.

She is teaching classes in Flower Design and Horticulture at her shop located at 2747 S.Staples St. Very soon she will help to set a Horticulture Program for Early Childhood Development Center at Texas A&M University. She also want to build a Horticulture School and Floral Design which later she will like to make it part of Texas A&M University.

She is struggle to succeed on developing a greatest Horticulture Educational Program not only in Texas but in U.S.She will work closely with the Commissioner of Agriculture Ted Staples , as well as seeking the Legislators help to develop this program. She welcomes suggestions and financial involvement from anyone interested.

Margaret is also Director of Public Relations and Community Liaison for Radiology at MRI field. Her clients are Doctors and Attorneys referring patients who are treated with the highest care and respect at their facilities.

It's well recognized in the community that Margaret's personable approach to people needs, exceed any expectation of the greatest consideration and respect necessary in business, as well as to every human being living on this earth deserve to be treated.

A local delivery fee of $7.00 will be added to each order, for each address. (For deliveries outside our local delivery area, this fee may vary.)

U.S. orders must be received before 12:00 noon in the recipient's time zone to assure same-day delivery. Orders received after that time will be delivered the following day.

We will do our best to accommodate deliveries at specific times of day, but we cannot guarantee it.

We are unable to make deliveries on Sundays. Deliveries requested on this day will be delivered the following business day.

Delivery of orders to rural route addresses or cemeteries cannot be guaranteed.

We will be happy to accept your international orders if you call our shop directly. We are unable to accept international orders over the Internet.

Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
